The Mouths of Children

This is a rough depiction of the conversation that occurred around my kitchen table this afternoon @ lunchtime:

Reagan: "Dee Dee shut up, I am trying to eat!"

Dee Dee: "No, you shut up!"

Reagan: "I said shut up first!"

Dee Dee: "Uhn uh, I did. Shut up!"

Reagan: "You shut up!"

Dee Dee: "NO, YOU SHUT UP!"

Reagan: "MOM, Dee Dee won't shut up!"

Dee Dee: " Reagan, I'm not talking to you anymore!"

Mom: "Girls, please we don't say shut up. Now shut up and eat your macaroni."
